Customers Ask: Can I Install EMENO's EAS Antennas Myself

North American customers especially like to ask: "Can I install EMENO's EAS antennas myself, or do you have to send someone?"

The answer is: yes, you can do it yourself. EMENO's AM antennas support mobile APP tuning. Just follow the instructions and you'll get it done. But I usually add: there are a few details you need to pay attention to. AM9800X, AM8089, and AM8208 have different installation requirements.

Detail 1: Antenna spacing is not the same for all models

AM9800X detects soft labels up to 1.8-2.0 meters and hard tags up to 2.0-3.0 meters. It's designed for wide checkout lanes in supermarkets and hypermarkets. AM8089 and AM8208 have slightly shorter detection ranges — soft labels 1.6-1.8 meters, hard tags 1.8-2.8 meters. They're better suited for standard-width entrances in clothing stores and convenience stores.

Install the antennas too close together, and the detection zones overlap — false alarms. Install them too far apart, and there's a blind spot in the middle. AM9800X allows for wider aisles. AM8208 is better for narrow spaces.

Detail 2: Metal objects near the antennas

EMENO's AM antennas have strong anti-interference capability — stronger than RF systems — but they're not completely immune. A metal shelf next to the antenna, or a freezer compressor nearby, can affect the signal.

A customer in Thailand bought a pair of AM9800X antennas from EMENO, installed them himself, and then complained about false alarms. We did a remote check — EMENO's AM100 mainboard supports remote tuning — and found a stainless steel shelf just half a meter from the antenna. We suggested moving the shelf. Problem solved. He later told us: "I didn't realize it was that simple."

Detail 3: AM8089's side cable routing

AM8089 is also acrylic, but it has a key design difference: side cable routing. Cables exit from the side of the antenna and run along the wall or baseboard — no floor channeling required. For stores that are already decorated or for customers who don't want to cut into their floors, this solves a real problem.
