EAS + RFID integration accelerates, one tag accomplishes two tasks

During the first half of this year, I attended several exhibitions. One thing that became increasingly evident is that EAS and RFID are evolving from being "two separate options" to "a combination of the two".

What the industry leader is doing

Checkpoint announced SFERO™ RFID Checkout at EuroShop in February. This system integrates RFID antennas directly into the checkout channel. There is no need to cut slots on the floor. Once the product is placed on it, both RFID reading and EAS detection can be completed simultaneously.

The official statement from Checkpoint is: "Loss prevention is not limited to the point of sale; it begins right at the checkout counter - and the checkout counter is precisely the place with the highest risk of fraud."

Sensormatic has launched the FLEX store front platform at NRF, integrating EAS antennas, digital signage and visual marketing tools. Industry reports also indicate that leading companies such as Checkpoint, Nedap and Sensormatic all emphasize the combination of RFID and EAS. The industry is moving from "alarm-based theft prevention" to "product-level identification + event data + operational insights".

Why integration?

RFID-EAS hybrid tags represent the fastest-growing segment of the technology market. A single tag performs two functions: traditional EAS is responsible for entrance and exit alarms, while RFID is responsible for item-level inventory tracking. Retailers don't need to attach two tags; just one is sufficient.

The article in Checkpoint also mentions that RFID technology upgrades the traditional EAS system into a more precise and intelligent anti-theft solution - unlike the conventional EAS which only triggers an alarm when the tag passes through the exit, the RFID-based EAS can accurately identify specific goods and verify their purchase status.

The location of Lifangmei Technology

Lifangmei Technology's current product line mainly consists of AM acoustic magnetic and RF radio frequency technologies, and does not directly produce RFID tags. However, the industry trend points in one direction: EAS hardware will not disappear, but its functions will be combined.

What Lifangmei Technology is doing is: making the antenna well, making the motherboard well, and ensuring the detection distance is accurate - so that the companies that integrate the components can have reliable hardware to use.

Regarding Lifangmei Technology

Lifangmei Technology was established in 2006. Its headquarters is located in Dongguan. It possesses its own independently developed AM motherboard technology (AM100/AM100E), has obtained ISO 14001:2015 certification, and has been recognized as a national high-tech enterprise. Its products include AM/RF antennas, anti-theft tags, demagnetizers, unlockers, passenger flow counters, entrance gates, etc., and are exported to 40 countries and regions around the world.
